Vampires are a special character in the Elder Scrolls Online. Vampires are allowed to have a number of special abilities, but some unique vulnerabilities at the same time. Then about the vampires, all you should know is as follows:

How to Become a Vampire?

Vampirism can be contracted from NPCs on a night of the New Moon. ESO nights last only about an hour and a half, so the window for contracting infections is limited. Vampirism is contracted from Bloodfiend NPC spawns.

Spawn points are usually located in high level areas. The Ebonheart Pact locations are centered around The Rift. A confirmed location is depicted below.

ESO player Lobselvith provided this map of vampire and werewolf spawns in the Aldmeri Dominion, as well as some help with contracting the disease.

Being bitten takes a variable number of hits from Bloodfiends in these zones. Players should shield themselves or block until infection is confirmed. Once a player has been bitten, they must embark on and complete the Scion of the Blood Matron quest.

Infected players can also choose to share their gift semi - regularly with other willing players, either as an act of kindness or by charging a fee.

The Blood Ritual Passive Ability allows a player to share Vampirism with a willing partner once every seven days. The two must meet at pruposed Shrines to perform the ritual.

Don't Want to Be a Vampire?

The Scion of the Blood Matron Quest also includes an option to visit a Priestess instead of accomplishing the regular mission goal. If you don't want to Vampire, just head down this quest path and you'll be cured.

Werewolves and Vampires

Werewolves cannot become Vampires, and vice - versa.

Vampire Stages

Vampires may gradually increase their Vampirism across four stages. The higher a character's stage, the less Vampire abilities cost to use. Conversely, the higher a grade of Vampirism you elect to embrace, the slower your regular Health regeneration functions. This makes you very dependent on your Siphoning abilities.

Vampire Skills

Vampires gain access to powerful new skill trees.

1. Mist Form allows a Vampire to temporarily gain near - invulnerability to many types of attacks.

2. Bat Swarm is a powerful short - range area affect attack. It lasts 5 seconds and requires an ultimate slot.

3. Drain Essence is a potent health - siphoning power.

4. The Passive Ability Undeath is extraordinarily powerful, reducing the damage you take from blows as you approach Death and effectively boosting your Health by obscene levels.

5. The Dark Stalker Passive Ability raises your Stealth abilities at night. The power is of questionable usefulness in PvP thanks to the Vampire's fire vulnerabilities.

These skills lend themselves to characters builds which still take advantage of powerful weapons and armor (unlike Werewolves). Their Siphoning ability grants them a degree of independence, and their Mist Form powers are terrific for getting out of unexpected trouble.

On the other hand, Vampires are easily mauled by fire. Some enemies and most players will be able to inflict massive damage.

Vampire Tactics

Vampires are more versatile than Werewolves. Because their abilities work without activating an Ultimate, Vampires can engage enemies with greater endurance and level their vampire abilities much more quickly.

Vampires should be careful to avoid Fighters Guild members in PvP areas. The Fighters Guild enjoys special advantages against Vampires which make Vamps very vulnerable to their attacks.

Vampires in groups will probably serve as DPS, and with very specialized Builds, as Tanks.

Vampire Scarcity

Some Vampire players have managed to form groups enforcing vampire scarcity. These groups camp over Bloodfiend spawn points during New Moons, destroying NPC Vampires. They then charge players exorbitant rates for transformations.
