PC/Mac
1. Get a TESO Promo Code.
2. Create an ESO game account at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com.
3. Activate your account by clicking the link in the ESO email sent to you.
4. Head back to https://account.elderscrollsonline.com and sign in with the account you created.
5. Click "Redeem Code" on your account page. Enter your free trial code code in the popup box.
6. Once you've redeemed the code, a download link will appear on your account page.
7. Download the game and start playing.

Xbox One
1. Download ESO through Xbox Live.
2. Play the game. Note that you'll need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to do so, though.

The free trial will run from December 10th through December 13th. To keep playing past the trial, you'll need to purchase a copy of ESO. Fortunately, ZeniMax is slashing the price of the game by 60% until December 14th.

Earlier this year, ZeniMax removed the subscription requirement from Elder Scrolls Online. A new in-game store allows players to purchase optional convenience and customization items along with new expansions. The currency for this in-game store, Crowns, will be on sale this weekend for existing players as well as free trial players:
750 crown packs will be 25% off
1,500 crown packs will be 25% off
3,000 crown packs will be 33% off
5,500 crown packs will be 40% off
Alternately, you could spring for the optional subscription, now called "ESO Plus." Subscription members get access to all DLC, including the recent Imperial City and Orsinium add-ons. They're also granted other benefits including boosted gold and XP gains. There doesn't seem to be a discount for ESO Plus for this weekend, though.

While there's no PS4 free trial this weekend, ZeniMax says on the game's website that there may be one in the future. Apparently tech limitations are what prevented the console from receiving this particular trial.
