Skyshards are items of power hidden throughout the game world in Elder Scrolls Online. They can be found in every major zone in-game. For every three Skyshards collected, players earn extra skill points. Since skill points are so valuable (you have to share skill points between fighting and crafting disciplines), gathering all of the Skyshards in ESO can great.

Look for the Beam of Light
Skyshards have a big bright beam of light that points up towards the sky. As long as you keep an eye out for it, you will find most of the Skyshards in a zone without even looking too hard. You will just stumble upon them as you quest through the zone.

Skyshards are easy to miss if you do not think of looking for this light beam. It is easy to get distracted looking for ores or runes as you are adventuring. I recommend using your skill points for crafting abilities that make your target harvesting nodes more visible so your eyes are free to check scan for Skyshards as you explore new parts of the map.

Check Your Achievement Log
Your greatest weapon when it comes to finding Skyshards is your achievements log. Open up the quest journal (typically hotkey “J” unless you changed it). In the top right corner of this window, there will be an achievements button. Click it.

On the left hand side of the achievements menu, there is a section for “Skyshards”. Clicking on this will bring up a list of zones and hints for finding each Skyshard within each zone.

By knowing to look for the light beam as well as knowing to read hints in your achievements log, finding Skyshards is easy. As an example, I see one of the hints as “On a hillside behind a plantation”.

Since I know there is only one plantation in Stonefalls (Sathram Plantation), I decide to go run around the perimeter of the plantation and look for a beam of light in the hills. It is not long before I find it, just to the southwest of the plantation marker on the map on the side of the hill.
