Getting married in Elder Scrolls Online is a worthwhile endeavor. By using the Pledge of Mara at the correct Shrine to Mara, players acquire Rings which bind them together in bonds of love. Only player characters can marry each other.

Not only do espoused characters get the satisfaction of being romantically involved with someone for their entire ESO career, but there is also a ten percent experience bonus when both married players are online.

How To Get Married
Currently, only players who have the Rings of Mara found in the Imperial Edition can get married. The Rings of Mara item needed for the Ritual of Mara is only available in the bundle.

Group up with whomever you wish to marry, and visit a Shrine to Mara in any of the major starting towns. Once there, have one person equip the pledge by dragging it onto their action bar, turn and look at their friend, and initiate the ritual. A prompt will appear for both players, and if agreed upon, you will float in the air briefly, and then be married.

Why Get Married
The bonus to doing this, other than the satisfaction of eternal love and commitment, is the Ring of Mara. This ring gives the two married players a 10% experience point increase, so long as they both are online and both wear the ring.

Marriage becomes even more important in the long term. With the slowing of experience gains in the late game, the Rings of Mara bonus become even more important.

Tips:The Rings of Mara are a pre-order bonus item that allow you to marry players in game.
