New to the Elder Scrolls Online? Know little about the ESO? Want to get acquainted with it? Maybe the following few answers can help you a lot:

ESO is what?
The Elder Scrolls Online is a massively multiplayers online role playing game(MMORPG) which set in the world of Tamriel. It is a game that is both structured and most fun with other players based on its large and social nature. Unlike many other MMOs and MMORPGs, ESO does not force you into a specific playstyle, for the most part. While there are still four classes, each giving abilities that cover different aspects of combat and skill, there are no weapons and armour restrictions in the game just like any other Elder Scrolls game.

At its core, ESO is a beautiful game that treads the balance between a traditional MMO and a true role playing game. It has the benefit of being able to change up your playstyle on a whim but with the draw backs of not being able to flow as freely in traversal or combat as TES (The Elder Scrolls) veterans may be familiar with. However, its differences shouldn't hold you back from trying it out. You don't need to be a TES or MMO veteran to get into this game. The controls are easy to grasp and the mechanics clear to understand.

Begin in where?
Character creation is the first thing you'll face. Making your hero is a detailed process, but if that's not your thing you can just select presets and start up the game. There are plenty for races to choose from, each with their own perks and under one of the three alliances (save the Imperial who can be in any alliance).

The true "challenge" is your class and playstyle. While the game is good at letting your use any weapons and gear, your perks and abilities are class specific. The way you build your class as you level also shapes how you'll face the rest of the game, especially later aspects of it. While a build that focuses on a single - player style and experience, you might feel at a loss when it comes to end - game content.

To avoid the aforementioned, the best thing to understand is your role in the MMO aspects of the game, but that's only if you wish to get into that. You can make multiple characters, so don't feel restricted to one class. Playing as a DPS (a character who deals high damage per second) class like the Nightblade means you'll be at the forefront of every battle, but let the tank (a highly defensive class who can deal and take good amounts of damage, like a tank) Dragon Knights lead the charge with the support (typically a mage class who can heal from afar and do ranged attacks) Sorcerer focusing on healing them. Once you get into the rhythme of things, it'll all go well.

What if I really don't like Exploring, Fighting, Dungeons, Loot, or anything else?
Play alone, travel with friends, or fight with your alliance. Whichever you want to do, you can. The grind (a term for the levelling up process) might take you a bit, but the story missions and side quests will carry you through. The world is waiting for you and the story is yours to experience. Don't let the massive amount of content daunt you.

What if I just want to play alone like a 'TES' game or avoid groups?
Go right ahead! The world is huge and beautiful with plenty of main quests and side quests to suit your fancy. Join a guild, fight for your alliance, or just explore. Each alliance gives 3 different race choices (plus the Imperial), but also different starting locations, allied locations, and quest archs. There are tons of different things to do in the game and you can end up with some pretty great loot and stories.

If you're daring, you can also try out the player versus player aspects of the game. Ever wanted to become the emperor or empress of Cyrodiil? Better win. The three alliances face off in seige-style combat. The victor of the war gets the Imperial throne. An individual player can become the emperor / empress themselves. You'll even get your own unique skill line with perks and abilities only obtainable from being the crowned champion.
