Bethesda may have a few projects on its plate for 2017 – including the reboot of its sci-fi shooter Prey – but that doesn't mean it's forgetting about The Elder Scrolls Online. In fact, the team has big plans in place for the online role-playing series.

Speaking in a new blog post, game director Matt Firor explained that the team has some "amazing new things" planned for the game going into the new year, though he wouldn't break down too many details just yet.

"We'll talk a lot more about the amazing new things that are coming to ESO as early as we can in the new year," he said. "We had a huge year in 2016, and I fully expect 2017 to be an even more successful year for ESO and will set us up for many more years of growth and success."

There are a few updates we already know about, such as the establishment of housing with the Homestead expansion, as well as a number of features, including the ability to make and sell furniture in the game. This update hasn't been given a release date yet, but it's expected in early 2017.

Firor added, "Of course, none of this success would be possible without you, the community. We appreciate everything you do for us, from simply playing the game to livestreaming, from leading guilds to letting us know what you think. Most importantly, spreading the word about ESO to your friends. I always say this (and I mean it!): we will work on ESO for as long as there is a community like you to play the game, live in Tamriel with us, and partner with us for good times far into the future."
