The first major update to ESO is now live and the patch notes are a bit confusing, so let's try to break it down and make sense of this massive free update to TESO. The big things to understand is that it finally adds the major portion of the endgame, adventure zones, to TESO so max level players finally have something to do other than PvP. Adventure zones are for groups of four veteran rank characters to walk around and explore, trying to recreate that traditional single player Elder Scrolls feel, except with people! In addition, about five billion gallons of bug fixes and other updates were included.

Adventure Zones
Craglorn, the first adventure zone, is now live. A quest takes you there that starts in Mournhold, Wayrest, or Elden Root. An adventure zone is just a large zone that you can explore and find cool things to do in with a group of three other players. There are enemies to fight, quests to complete, and loot to enjoy. In addition, there are also trials that you can compete located in Craglorn.

Bug Fixes

There is too many to list, honestly, but we can go over some important ones. Ultimate is now generated more by single target spells rather than AoE spells. Lots of skills were nerfed / boosted. At least 50 or so quest updates were made.

Trials
Hel Ra Citadel and the Aetherian Archive are included in this update, which are 12-player Trials where you compete on leaderboards with other groups for infamy and fame. The group finder works with trials, so you can find your group rather easily, but you may not do very well. You can even fail and be kicked out - you have 36 "Soul Reservoirs" which depletes every time someone is resurrected. The quests are weekly quests and offer loot once a week. The leaderboard works by counting the time until you complete the trial or fail. Your personal best time is available on the leaderboards.

This patch is interesting, because it adds endgame content and a ton of bug fixes into the game. A lot of players currently feel that this should have been the launch version of the game, but too late for that now. Craglorn will add in some much needed PvE content for players who have reached maximum level while the massive list of bug fixes will be a huge quality of life improvement for everyone.
