The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) team has announced adjustments to the 2026 content roadmap, including several major features being moved into 2027. While some highly anticipated additions will arrive later than originally planned, players can still expect a packed lineup of new content, system improvements, events, and quality-of-life updates throughout the rest of 2026.
The development team explained that the delay is aimed at giving these features more time for refinement and ensuring they meet player expectations rather than rushing unfinished content. Among the delayed features are the new Crimson Veldt Trial, Update 52, and the next phase of the Class and Combat Refresh.
1) Crimson Veldt Trial Moves to 2027
The upcoming Crimson Veldt Trial will no longer launch during the 2026 roadmap. The team stated that this trial is designed to introduce new gameplay experiences, including mounted combat, and additional development time is needed to make sure the final version delivers the quality players expect.
Rather than releasing a rushed experience, the developers are taking more time to polish mechanics, balance encounters, and improve the overall trial experience.
Update 52 has been pushed back to January 2027. This update is expected to introduce several important features, including:
Jerall Pass PvP Zone
Skyrim’s Dynamic Encounters: Rimegales
The new PvP area is expected to provide another competitive battlefield experience, while Rimegales will expand Skyrim-themed world activities with more dynamic encounters.
3) Class and Combat Refresh Also Targets 2027
The next stage of the Class and Combat Refresh will now focus on 2027. However, the team is exploring temporary improvements for classes that are still waiting for their complete refresh. These smaller adjustments are designed to improve the player experience while the larger class updates continue development.
Update 51 will now launch on September 28, 2026, arriving one week later than previously planned. This update will introduce a variety of new content and player-focused improvements. Players can expect:
The Nowhere Vault – A brand-new challenge experience.
Rumors System – A new gameplay feature adding more exploration opportunities.
Three-sided Battlegrounds returning permanently.
In addition, Update 51 will include multiple quality-of-life improvements, such as:
Achievement pinning
Customizable HUD for keyboard platforms
Hybridization improvements
Antiquities improvements
Transmute Stations in Cyrodiil
Housing Tab Sorter
Quest Starter Language improvements
Eidetic Memory updates

2) Greymoor and Markarth Become Free

Season Two will also include:

Improvements to the Tamriel Tome system

While moving Crimson Veldt, Update 52, and the Class and Combat Refresh into 2027 may disappoint some players, ESO’s updated roadmap still offers a strong lineup of content for 2026. The upcoming seasons will focus on improving the core experience, adding new challenges, expanding rewards, and making more!
