A new adventure is about to set sail in The Elder Scrolls Online. The High Seas of Tamriel event arrives alongside Update 51 on September 30, 2026, bringing a new combination of naval combat, underwater exploration, and treasure hunting to Tamriel. The event will run through October 14, giving players two weeks to explore its activities and collect limited-time rewards.

Unlike many ESO events that focus heavily on familiar combat activities, High Seas of Tamriel introduces a more unusual gameplay experience. Players will battle enemy ships, defend their own vessel, dive beneath the waves, and search underwater locations for enemies and valuable treasure. The event is free to participate in and can be completed either solo or with other players.

How to Start the High Seas of Tamriel Event?

Getting started is fairly simple. Players can claim the High Seas of Tamriel introductory quest for free from the Crown Store. Alternatively, travel to the Gold Coast and speak with the Ghost Baron Captain to begin the adventure.

After completing the short introduction, players will unlock the event's daily quest. This quest is the main activity you will want to complete each day because it combines the event's major gameplay features while also providing access to its most important rewards.

1) Battle Enemy Ships on the High Seas

The first part of the daily activity focuses on naval combat. Players will take control of their ship and face an enemy vessel while dealing with pirates attempting to board.

Your goal is to survive the attack and destroy the opposing ship. Once the battle is over, you can collect the loot before moving on to the underwater portion of the adventure. The naval section gives High Seas of Tamriel a very different feel from the standard ESO event routine and adds a new way for players to spend time in Tamriel.

2) Dive Beneath the Waves

After the ship battle, the adventure continues underwater through Bounty of the Abecean Sea. Players will enter an underwater area protected by a special bubble that allows them to remain submerged.

The underwater zone is designed for exploration rather than simply rushing toward the quest objective. Players can encounter enemies, discover treasure, search for valuable items, and explore different locations before returning to the surface.

There is one mechanic you need to keep in mind. Your protective bubble can disappear during exploration. If that happens, look for a nearby clam and stand inside it to restore your protection. This allows you to continue exploring without immediately leaving the underwater area.

High Seas of Tamriel Rewards

Rewards are one of the biggest attractions of the new event. Your first completed event quest each day gives you a Golden Deep Plunder Box, while subsequent completions provide Epic Deep Plunder Boxes. These reward boxes can contain a variety of useful and collectible items, including:

Gold
Motifs
Abecean Privateer Weapon Style Pages
Antiquity Leads
Crafting Materials
Furnishings
Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount fragments

The Golden Deep Plunder Box has a better chance of containing some of the event's rarer rewards, making the first daily completion particularly important. Players who enjoy ESO's housing system or collecting rare items will have plenty of reasons to explore the event beyond simply finishing the quest.

The first Golden Deep Plunder Box you open each day also provides 300 Trade Bars. These can be spent at the Impresario during the event. Available items include fragments for the Roseblood Bat Pet and its morphs, pieces for the Grotto of Desires House, Abecean Privateer Weapon Style Pages, Group Repair Kits, and Companion Guild Commendations. Because Trade Bars are tied to the first Golden Deep Plunder Box each day, players who want to maximize their event rewards should make the daily quest a regular part of their routine.

The Impresario's Assistant, Philius Dormier, will also have a selection of collectible fragments available. These include pieces connected to several pets, mounts, personalities, and skins. Among the available options are the Molag Bal Illusion Imp Pet, Master of Schemes personality, Soulfire Dragon Illusion Pet, Aurielic Quasigriff Mount, Aurora Firepot Spider, Passion Dancer's Blossom Pet, Meadowbreeze Memories skin, Unstable Morpholith Pet, and Deadlands Firewalker personality.

This gives players another way to spend their event currency, especially if they have already collected some of these rewards from previous events.

Indrik Vendor Rewards Return

The Indrik Vendor will also offer several items during High Seas of Tamriel. Players can pick up Nascent Indrik Mount Feathers as well as berries for the Mossheart Indrik and Onyx Indrik.

Additional Indrik-themed collectibles will also be available, including the Ebon-Glow Indrik Pet and Sapling Indrik Pet. Collectors who have been waiting for specific Indrik items should therefore check the vendor during the event.

High Seas of Tamriel keeps the familiar structure of an ESO limited-time event while adding a much more distinctive gameplay experience. Instead of spending the entire event repeating the same type of land-based activity, players can move from ship battles to underwater exploration and treasure hunting as part of the daily quest.

For ESO players who enjoy exploration, collectibles, housing rewards, or simply want something different from the usual event grind, High Seas of Tamriel could be one of the more interesting events to sail into Tamriel this year.
