ESO Update 51 brings a large number of class adjustments, with some abilities receiving buffs while others are being toned down. The update affects nearly every major playstyle. Some of the biggest changes focus on damage, healing, resource costs, and class-specific mechanics. Here is a quick look at the most important changes players should know about in Update 51.
Dragonknight players will see some noticeable changes to their core abilities. Flame Lash has received a significant reduction to both its damage and healing, but it now provides an additional damage-related benefit that lasts for 45 seconds.
Engulfing Dragonfire is also cheaper to use and provides 15% damage reduction while channeling. Meanwhile, the resource generation from Coral Flame has been reduced from 15% to 12%.
The Dragonknight class mastery system has also been adjusted. Its maximum stacks have increased to 12, and the stacks can now be generated more quickly.
Nightblade changes mainly affect Strife and its morphs. Their damage can increase based on missing health, but the abilities now require a combination of Magicka and Health.
Swallow Soul also receives stronger healing, although its damage is lower compared with Concealed Weapon. This gives Nightblade players another option when building around sustain and survivability.
Templars receive some useful changes to their defensive and offensive scaling.
Balance Warrior now grants additional Armor based on the number of Templar skills slotted. Weapon and Spell Damage can also scale with total Armor, creating more interaction between defensive stats and offensive power.
The passive bonus from Judgment's Brand has also been increased to 1,600.
Sorcerers receive several changes to their Dark Magic abilities and class mechanics.
Exploitation now provides 2,974 penetration when attempting to cast a Dark Magic ability. Crystal Weapon can also build up to three charges.
Meanwhile, Blood Magic healing has been reduced to 6%. Static Reverberation has received a more specific trigger, activating only from Sorcerer damage while using a 20% proc chance and a 100ms cooldown.
Warden players get several offensive improvements in Update 51.
The secondary cast of Fetcher Infection can now reach 75%, up from 60%. Arctic Blast also receives increased damage over time, with its DoT ticks becoming stronger as the effect continues.
These changes should give Warden players more damage potential in builds that make heavy use of their class abilities.
Necromancers receive a temporary PvE-focused boost to Frozen Colossus.
Its Ultimate cost has been reduced to 150, while its damage has increased by 12.5%. The change is currently intended as a PvE adjustment and is expected to be reverted in Update 52.
Pestilent Colossus has also been improved, with all three stages of the ability dealing more damage.
Arcanist changes are more focused on how class mechanics interact with abilities.
Tomb Bearer's Inspiration will now only activate from damage caused by Arcanist skills. Generic class damage will no longer trigger the effect.
This change makes the mechanic more specific and prevents unrelated damage sources from activating it.
Werewolf players are facing some of the biggest resource changes in Update 51.
Several active skills now have substantially higher costs. Pounce and Roar are among the abilities affected, with their costs increasing significantly. Healing has also been reduced for some Werewolf abilities.
However, Rampage still provides 100% cost reduction while active. As a result, the changes may have a relatively small impact on many PvE builds, while PvP Werewolf builds may need to pay much more attention to resource sustain.
In the near future, the impact of these changes will become clearer, especially for high-end PvE builds and PvP setups. For now, players should expect some existing builds to require adjustments as the new class mechanics settle into the ESO meta.
